ABOUT THE PROJECT:

New Year’s is a time for celebration. A time for fireworks. At the heart of Downtown Dubai standing tall at 828 metresis BurjKhalifa, known the world over as one of the iconic New Years venues, receiving international coverage for its gravity defying spectacular come the stroke of midnight. In 2013, the Downtown Dubai New Year’s Eve celebrations recorded a 1.7 million visitor turnout, more than the reported 1 million visitors at New York’s Times Square.

CHALLENGE:

Design and build digital creative to drive traffic and subscriptions to the Downtown Dubai YouTube page for the live stream and also promote attendance of BurjKhalifaNew Year’s Eve firework display in Downtown Dubai.

SOLUTION:

We did a banner campaign that was divided into 3 phases: Before the event, during the event, and after the event.

Before the event: We created different types of banner sizes and executions to push awareness of the event like standard banners, lightboxes, prerolls, and masthead banner. Moreover, we added few additional features like countdown timer and  “Add to Calendar”, “Subscribe” and “Share” buttons.

During the event: We converted the teaser masthead banner into a livestream banner where users were able to watch the fireworks live from their banners. We had 3 different live stream cameras for users to toggle through.

After the event: The masthead continued playing on YouTube but the live stream cameras were changed back into replayed videos.
